The Department of Population Medicine (DPM) resides within the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute, and is an appointing department of Harvard Medical School.  

DPM's core mission is to improve health care delivery and population health through innovative research and teaching.

Director, Center for Child Health Care Studies Appointed to IOM Board

Grace Lee, MD MPH was recently appointed to the Board on Population Health and Public Health Practice (BPH) by the Institute of Medicine.  The BPH focuses on areas and issues affecting the public’s health and explores topics such as cardiovascular and infectious disease prevention and control interventions and the capacity of federal, state, and local agencies to protect the health of the public.  Before her board appointment Dr. Lee had been an active IOM committee member since 2008.

Jun 07 2013Study Finds Pneumococcal Vaccine Poses No Increased Risk of Certain Adverse Events

A recent study published in Vaccine presents results on the occurrence of pre-specified health outcomes following administration the PCV13 pneumococcal vaccine after it was included in the U.S. childhood immunization program. Although no increased risk was detected for serious adverse outcomes, continued monitoring is suggested.
