Natasha Stout, PhD
Natasha Stout, Ph.D., is an Instructor in the Department of Population Medicine at the Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on the development and application of population-based computer simulation models to inform decision making in health policy and improve population health. In particular, she is interested in cancer natural history modeling to evaluate prevention and control strategies. Her current research agenda includes quantifying tradeoffs between clinical benefits and risks associated with alternative breast and cervical cancer screening policies in the U.S. to inform individuals as well as to guide policy decisions and resource allocation. Of particular interest is the evaluation of over-diagnosis in early stage breast cancer. Other research interests include cost-effectiveness analysis and technology assessment. She is affiliated with the Program in Health Decision Science at the Harvard School of Public Health and the National Cancer Institute's CISNET collaboration. Natasha holds a Ph.D. in Population Health Sciences and a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering (Operations Research and Decision Sciences concentration) from the University of Wisconsin. Prior to her Ph.D., she worked at Epic Systems, a software company in the field healthcare information systems.
