The Affiliated Clinical Faculty of the Department of Population Medicine play a critical role in fulfilling the Department's academic mission through their contributions to teaching and research. Many are clinicians within Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates (HVMA) of Atrius Health or Cambridge Health Alliance. Affiliated Clinical Faculty have Harvard Medical School academic appointments and are active educators of Harvard-affiliated students or residents in ambulatory practice. Our clinician-educators provide outstanding teaching and precepting, and serve as role models for the next generation of primary care physicians-- at a time of great need for the US health care system. Finally, by teaching within high-functioning integrated delivery systems, they help students develop an appreciation for the links between clinical care systems (including information technology, team based care, and others) and improving health for the populations they serve.
