Instructor or Assistant or Associate Professor
PRecisiOn Medicine Translational Research (PROMoTeR) Center
The Department of Population Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute seeks a faculty member in precision medicine for a full-time position as Instructor or Assistant or Associate Professor. The Department is uniquely positioned to lead population-based research and medical education with joint support from a medical school and a large non-profit health plan. Faculty members of the Department collaborate closely with other Harvard groups such as the Channing Laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. It has a multi disciplinary faculty with a research portfolio that spans a wide range of clinical, epidemiologic, and health systems research.
The PROMoTeR Center currently includes four faculty members. The overarching goal of the Center is to improve individual and population health outcomes by conducting precision medicine research and integrating the use of genomic information into clinical care. Areas of ongoing investigation include the discovery and clinical application of genomic testing, and health services, health policy and implementation research in precision medicine of cancer, obesity, asthma and other areas.
The incoming faculty member should have an MD, PhD, or equivalent, several years of experience in research with a strong publication record; interest and skills appropriate for writing grant proposals to funding agencies; the ability to lead and work in multi-disciplinary teams; and the capacity to establish new areas of expertise for the Center and/or support areas of ongoing research. The incoming faculty member may have expertise in translational or implementation research, expertise in health economics and genomic research, skills to integrate multiple omics to develop precision medicine tests for clinical use, or other areas within precision medicine. Besides her/his principal research activity, the faculty member will have opportunities to mentor medical students, research fellows, and/or graduate students and will contribute to teaching and the broader mission of the Department of Population Medicine.
