Vu-Thuy “Thuy” Nguyen

Research Scientist

Vu-Thuy “Thuy” Nguyen, PhD, is a Research Scientist in the Therapeutics and Infectious Disease Epidemiology division in the Department of Population Medicine, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute. She received her MS and PhD in Epidemiology from The University of Iowa College of Public Health.

Her current work involves assisting in the design and execution of epidemiological studies, in addition to, developing protocols, surveillance and analysis plans, and implementing algorithms for identifying infectious diseases using electronic health data.

Dr. Nguyen’s doctoral research was in rural HIV/AIDS, namely, estimation of the population size of people living with undiagnosed HIV/AIDS and the spatial exploration of factors related to late diagnoses in Iowa. Her postdoctoral research was with the National Center on Homelessness Among Veterans where she studied the geospatial characteristics of formerly unhoused veterans who participated in the HUD-VASH voucher program from 2009-2019.
