Edward Septimus

Senior Lecturer, Part-time

Dr. Septimus is a practicing adult infectious diseases physician and hospital epidemiologist with a focus on infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship, patient safety and sepsis.  He is currently Medical Director, Infection Prevention and Epidemiology and VP of Research and Infectious Diseases at the Hospital Corporation of America.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University and received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. Throughout his career, Dr. Septimus has served on the faculties of Baylor College of Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston, Texas A&M College of Medicine-Houston and the George Mason University School of Public Health.

Most recently, Dr. Septimus has been a Co-Investigator and the HCA lead for the REDUCE MRSA and ABATE studies – large multi-hospital trials conducted in collaboration with the HPHC Institute.
