Associate Professor

Hao Yu, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Division of Health Policy and Insurance Research (HPI) at the Department of Population Medicine. He has more than 20 years of experience in studying health care reforms in both the US and China. He has led multiple R01 projects with funding support from AHRQ and NIH, all of which focused on how health care financing and delivery reforms affect health care and health outcomes for vulnerable populations, such as children with special health care needs, the mentally ill, and those who live in medically underserved areas. His ongoing projects examine insurance expansion, workforce policies, and health care for children with autism. Prior to coming to Harvard Medical School and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute, Dr. Yu was a senior health policy researcher at RAND Corporation, the first organization that was called “think tank” in the US, and served on the faculty of the RAND Graduate School in the US and Shanghai Medical University in China.
