Dr. Marc-David Munk, Chief Medical Officer of CVS MinuteClinic, spoke at the first China Program Seminar on "Evolution: How Emerging Consumer Expectations and Novel Care Models are Catalyzing a U.S. Healthcare Renaissance".

January 16, 2019

In his talk, Dr. Munk addressed that the stagnant healthcare system, the worsening burden of illness, increasing cost and evolving consumer expectations have created much pressure on the U.S. healthcare system. In response, new care models are evolving to disrupt the landscape of the healthcare system with better and more cost-effective care. These new models share seven common characteristics: moving upstream, segmenting patient populations, encouraging virtual interlining, adopting risk-based payment structure, occupying space between illness, involving physicians in care teams, and creating new relationships with patients. Dr. Munk also emphasized his optimism for a change and transition in the U.S. healthcare system.
