Sarah Willis

Research Scientist

Sarah Willis is a Research Scientist in the Department of Population Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute. She is the lead epidemiologist for ESP (esphealth.org), an electronic health record-based distributed data network for state-level infectious disease reporting and chronic disease surveillance. She also holds a joint appointment at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Bureau of Infectious Disease and Laboratory Sciences.

Sarah’s background is in infectious disease epidemiology and public health surveillance. Her research interests include the effects of HCV coinfection on HIV treatment outcomes, sexually transmitted infections, and novel uses of surveillance data. Prior to joining DPM, she worked closely with the HIV and STD surveillance programs at the District of Columbia Department of Health and with the AIDS Institute at the New York State Department of Health. She received her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina and a Master’s in Public Health from the State University of New York at Albany.
