Ellen Kim DeLuca, PhD, MPH
Research Focus
Ellen Kim DeLuca is a Harvard-wide Pediatrics Health Services Research Fellow whose research program aims to optimize the health and well-being of children and families by advancing informed decision-making across all levels of care—from individual clinical encounters to population-level policy. As a decision scientist, she combines economic evaluation, simulation modeling, preference valuation, psychometrics, econometrics, and qualitative methods to inform clinical and policy decisions in maternal and child health. Much of her work has focused on valuing health-related quality of life in children and evaluating the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of genomics in prenatal and newborn screening programs. Dr. Kim DeLuca is currently a recipient of a K99/R00 career development award from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) for NIPT-AID: Navigating Prenatal Testing – Advancing Informed Decision-making. This project seeks to improve patient-provider communication and shared decision-making around prenatal cell-free DNA screening.
Dr. Kim DeLuca earned her PhD in Health Services Organization and Policy (Decision Sciences concentration) from the University of Michigan, where she was supported by an NIH/NHGRI T32 ELSI research training fellowship. She also holds an MPH in Health Policy and Management from Columbia University.
