Margaret McConnell, Ph.D., is a health economist and behavioral scientist whose research investigates how policies and interventions can improve health outcomes for low-income families, with a focus on maternal and infant health. Using experimental and quasi-experimental methods, her work combines economic and behavioral science approaches to examine how economic precarity during pregnancy and the postpartum period shapes outcomes for women and children. She has led over 10 randomized controlled trials, collaborating extensively with research institutions, health systems, and government agencies. Margaret’s research spans global settings as well as focusing on low-income populations in the United States, focusing on practical, scalable solutions that address disparities in maternal and child health.
