Qi Zhang, PhD

Qi Zhang is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Population Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute. Her research lies at the intersection of causal inference, epidemiology, and machine learning. She develops causal machine learning methods to generate reliable and actionable evidence from real-world health data, with a particular focus on heterogeneous and longitudinal treatment effects in complex settings involving time-varying treatments, repeatedly measured outcomes, competing or truncating events, and missing data. Her work also spans causal generative AI, natural language processing for electronic health records, and methods for addressing measurement error and uncertainty. Her research is motivated by applications in pharmacoepidemiology, comparative effectiveness and safety research, and population health.
