DAISY: Decision Analysis to Inform Screening of the Young
- Health Resources and Services Administration

Project Summary
Newborn screening aims to improve health outcomes through presymptomatic or early symptomatic detection of targeted health conditions. To facilitate understanding of the impact of newborn screening for a given target condition compared with clinical identification, we developed DAISY: Decision Analysis to Inform Screening of the Young. DAISY is a publicly available decision analytic model that incorporates user-supplied input values. Through its interactive design, it can be customized to a given target condition and jurisdiction based on considerations such as population size, birth prevalence of the target condition, and treatment eligibility and effectiveness. Results can be used to inform decisions about whether a condition should be added to population-based newborn screening.
