Administrative Data Service Center (ADSC)
Offering a wide range of services for research teams aiming to leverage Institute datasets.
Who We Are
The Administrative Data Service Center provides turnkey data services and best-in-class administrative and analytical expertise for teams looking to leverage available datasets in their research and work, but cannot for some reason subcontract with HPHCI
These customizable, fee-based services are available to both Institute-based and external investigators and teams to support data-related efforts.
The ADSC offers the following services:
- Analysis Plan Review and Discussion
- Data Extraction and Dataset Preparation
- Derivation of Variables
- Learning External Reference Data or Data Sources
- Programming and Technical Review
- Statistical Analysis
- Administrative Management
The following are datasets available for use through the ADSC. The data may also be available through other sources such as a public repository or grant subaward. Please review the information below and reach out to the ADSC team for more questions about use of available datasets.
Project Viva
Project Viva is a groundbreaking longitudinal research study of women and children that began in 1999. A total of 2,128 babies born between 1999 and 2003 were enrolled in the study. Today, more than two decades later, over 1,000 women and over 800 offspring continue to be actively engaged in Project Viva research. Project Viva has examined a wide range of experiences that influence health starting in pregnancy and extending into midlife for mothers and young adulthood for their children. The data available includes diet, physical activity, sleep, environmental chemicals, air pollution, stressors, mental health, and others. This data presents a unique opportunity for ongoing research and is readily available for use.
ADSC fees support the time and effort of service center personnel in dataset preparation and other directly related data and administrative efforts.
While subcontracting with HPHCI is the preferred method of providing data services, we understand that sometimes a subcontract is not possible. Therefore, a project is subject to ADSC fees if it meets the following criteria:
- HPHCI is not currently receiving or has not already received funds to support the proposed project.
- No new biospecimens are being collected.
- It is not possible to issue an award or sub-award to HPHCI.
- The requested data is not already available on a public data repository.
We recommend that you directly contact the ADSC if you are interested in using the available datasets and have an eligible project. The process for most projects will be the same, though unique for each dataset and team.
The process is generally as follows:
- The Requesting Investigator (RI)* initiates a project proposal with the appropriate HPHCI team per their policies.
- The HPHCI team member overseeing the dataset and ADSC staff will evaluate the requested services according to the pricing model.
- ADSC staff and RI meet to discuss details and clarify specifications.
- ADSC provides RI with a quote, scope of work, and deliverables based on prior discussion(s).
- If the RI decides to move forward, they return the signed quote. The HPHCI team will send an invoice to the appropriate person(s) and once payment has been received, the ADSC team can begin work on the project.
* “Requesting Investigator” (RI) is the investigator requesting dataset access and other services from the Administrative Data Services Center.
