Heterosexual men anticipate risk compensatory behaviors with future PrEP initiation: Findings from an exploratory cross-sectional study.

Among 146 urban heterosexuals screening negative for HIV, one-third anticipated increased sexual risk-taking with HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Men (vs. women) and Black (vs. White) participants had increased odds for anticipating decreased condom use. Men and persons reporting transactional sex expected to increase sexual partnerships. Risk compensation could affect reproductive health and disease control.
