Health Care Workforce

Two of the most serious concerns that have historically dominated the health care workforce policy debates in the US are the persistent workforce shortage and the unequal workforce distribution. Using large national data files, Dr. Hao Yu has led multidisciplinary teams to examine whether the two concerns have been alleviated by the ongoing health care reforms, especially the full implementation of the Affordable Care Act since 2014, and the recent workforce policy changes, such as the expansion of National Health Services Corp since 2009. His research has also examined the impacts of health workforce shortage and maldistribution on health care and health outcomes for vulnerable populations, such as children with autism and those who live health professional shortage areas.
