Whitney Irie
Whitney Irie, PhD, MSW is a Lecturer, Part-Time in Population Medicine at the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute and Harvard Medical School. She works closely with Drs. Julia Marcus and Doug Krakower. Her primary research focuses on preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) access and implementation, particularly for Black Women in the United States. Her current projects use survey and qualitative data to understand patterns of HIV preexposure prophylaxis use, and developing tools to facilitate increased awareness and uptake of HIV preexposure prophylaxis in clinical settings.
Dr. Irie received her doctoral degree in social work from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, and completed a master’s degree in social work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
